people who aren't from sac always ask me about the sign they see on highway 50.

when paul came to visit me up here, he called me once he saw that sign and was like "that maryland thing is freaky.. it feels like one of those house of wax type things" i finally decided after 2.5 years of living here to research why they chose to put ocean city, MD of all places on a sacramento road sign. soooo i found this site that had a picture of a sign in maryland.


the concept is quite simple actually.. pretty much highway 50 is one of the major east to west route to get across the U.S. so, it starts in west sac and ends on the pacific coast in ocean city, maryland. jack cropper, an engineer for caltrans, was the one who insisted on putting up the sign in sacramento. just because.
