DIE TREND DIE.

so i came across an article about "the worst looks of 2008" by abigail bruley. the link to the article is below.

http://www.lemondrop.com/2008/12/29/die-trend-die-the-worst-looks-of-2008/?icid=aimDBDL2_link1-a

10. jaunty caps.
disagree. if i remember correctly.. i believe coco chanel popularized tailored suits a little bit before the flapper era. i think the whole jaunty cap thing on women is almost a different form of that. transforming a masculine style into a feminine one. i really like it.

9. uggs.
agree. they are called uggs for a reason. they make your feet look extremely large. and they're just ugly. warm, but ugly. there are other ways to keep your feet warm. like heated socks! :)

8. celeb perfumes.
agree. what the hell is the point of the damn perfumes anyway? you know that kimora lee, hilary duff, and mariah carey don't even wear their own scent. i've smelled every celebrity perfume that's come out, and i can honestly say i've only smelled one that i would MAYBE wear.. other than that. just stick to chanel, dior, lancome. you're always safe with that. unless you like smelling like candy cane dipped in butter and dirt. then hey, i'd suggest j.lo's perfume "glow"

7. scarves
i totally disagree. i think scarves are a fabulous idea. not only do they keep you warm, they're a wonderful accessory. the popular scarves you find now at forever 21, up against the wall, and workmens are actually called shemaghs. there's a lot of varieties of them depending on what country you're in, but generally they're used for headdresses. i love the idea of spreading fashion overseas. i just think it's funny how the girl who wrote the article didn't really have a valid reason for her opinions.. i'd like to see what she had to say about scarves though. because i can't think of a reason why they'd be put under a "trend that must die."

6. fanny packs
disagree. they're cute if you can wear them right. unlike my dad in his wedding video, that would definitely be a fashion failure. i definitely see a huge impact after fannypak on abdc.. but don't wear a double d bra when you have little a cups. figure it out.

5. sunglasses at night
agree. there's nothing that i hate more than seeing people wear sunglasses inside the mall, in a classroom, inside a restaurant, andddd.. at night. i mean, it' not sunny. why do you need to wear it? if it's part of your outfit.. put it on your head or on your shirt for goodness sake. there's no reason to be struggling to make your way around the room because your sunglasses are making it too dark to see. and if you really are depending on your sunglasses to make the outfit.. i think it's time to find a different outfit.

4. crop tops
agree. only because i'm jealous that i can't wear anything like that. haha.

3. leggings
disagree. i love leggings! they're cute with anything you wear it with. i'm more of a fan of stockings lately, but i do like the concept of leggings. they're comfortable, it beats wearing jeans, and it comes in so many textures, colors, and fabrics.. you can make what's supposed to be a dressed up outfit, into a comfortable dressed up outfit. you can do alot with those babies.. i think every girl should have a pair.

2. high waisted jeans
disagree. i'm honestly not the type to wear high waisted jeans, just because i've never seen them look flattering on anyone (not even a model), but i do think they do look cute when you wear it right. the same outfit could look cute with regular jeans, and a tucked in shirt. you get the same effect, just at a different extreme. i wouldn't classify them under a die trend though.

1. gladiator sandals.
i'd have to disagree with this one. i actually do like the whole concept of sandals.. they're cute and comfy. they go well with summer dresses when you don't feel like wearing closed toe flats or heels. i can understand how the gladiator sandals that go up to your knees are on the "do-not" list, but i'll tell you one thing though. i'd much rather see a girl wearing those with a dress than a girl wearing it with a pair of fucking dunks, sneakers, or j's.. whatever you call them. THAT'S what should've made the list if you ask me.

and if i could add anything to the list they would be..
-sequence elastic belts with the tacky hook
-sneakers and prom dresses

there's a lot more, but i know some people who read my blog will be offended.. so i'll just keep my mouth shut. i mean, what do i know right?

i like this blog! and i could not agree more about those hideous uggs. and i also agree with you on leggings. i didn't understand what was the hype about them til my mom bought me a pair after i complained about the cold. it's crazy how versatile it is.. under my jeans to keep me warm, under dresses so i don't get cold at church, etc. but the one thing i hate is when people wear leggings.. and end up with some crazy muffin top or camel toe. haha i think that's gross.

i liked this blog though. happy new years=)
